Engineer's Specifications for Mylar Wire
Markers
A) IMPRINTED FULL TEXT WIRE MARKERS

Wiring for __________ (enter: control circuits, emergency circuits, normal circuits, etc.
as required) shall be permanently labeled with complete circuit number and/or function designation
as shown on the plans within ______ inches of termination point and within _______ inches at
every splice within junction boxes.

Wire designations shall be permanently printed with heat fused ink on a
micro-thin Mylar self-adhesive marker containing up to 12 (or 24)
characters of circuit/function information. Designations shall be printed in black
type, eight point minimum size. Ink shall be heat-fused at 400 degrees to the
Mylar to insure permanence. Lettering shall appear on a white background for ease of readability.
Optional background colors for designation of circuit type/function shall be yellow,
pink, and tan.

Wire Marker shall wrap completely around the wire,
overlapping several times to insure permanent adhesion. Methods
which utilize cloth or paper markers, strings or ty-wraps, require the use of heat guns,
or require the use of several individual character-markers placed side-by-side shall be
unacceptable.

Wire markers shall be provided in sizes appropriate for the diameter of the wire or cable as
follows: markers for up to 1/8" diameter wire shall be 1" wide by 1.3" long; up to 1/4" diameter
shall be 1" wide by 2.6" long; up to 1/2" diameter shall be 1.3" wide by 4.2" long;
up to 1" diameter shall be 1.3" wide by 8.0" long.

Custom imprinted Mylar Wire Markers (in sizes MA-12, -24; MB-12, -24; MC-12, -24; MD-12, -24
shall be as manufactured by j.f. hayduk company, Milford, CT 06460, 203/877-2430, or equal.
